H.O.T. Domestic Violence Community Ambassador Program

This Community Ambassador program & course is designed to develop leadership skills, domestic violence education, and real-life tips to help you see when someone is in trouble and offer options.

The H.O.T. Domestic Violence Community Ambassador program & course is for you if ...

  1. You are a survivor of domestic violence and would like to share your story with others
  2. You would like to serve the domestic violence community through helping others
  3. Would like to learn how you can help yourself and / or what you can go to help your  friends & family 
  4. Would like to become an active participant, volunteer speading domestic violence awareness and education to your community
  5. Share our mission building domestic violence awareness and education as a public speaker at churches, schools,  events and other community programs. 


1 in 4 women are impacted by domestic violence which means if you have 3 friends, if you are not the one of your 3 friends are. Women don’t talk about domestic violence because of the shame and lack of community understanding.

The course includes 6 - 45 minute classes plus surveys to identify class understanding:

  You will learn: 
  1. About domestic violence
  2. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of someone experiencing domestic violence/abuse
  3. What barriers are in the way to help
  4. How to respond when someone shares their personal experience
  5. How to listen effectively 
  6. Provide resources to local help agencies 
Upon completion for this course you will be qualified to teach, lead discussions, identify needs and connect to resources about domestic violence awareness. You will be awarded a certificate of completion. 

The 2nd step is to learn about the ambasador progarm by enrolling in the course & commit to making a difference.

If you are passionate about helping women in and survivors of domestic violence we would love to connect with you. By joining our grassroots movement on a your mission will be to increase awareness, education and provide connections to reasources to women impacted by domestic violence, and our community who support domestic  violence survivors.

Here's the Course

Introduction

Welcome to the H.O.T. Domestic Violence Community Ambassador Course. We believe together with education, intervention, and preventive skills we can eradicate domestic violence in our community. We will effectively change our community via the ambassador program who will be a selection of community entrepreneurs. As ambassadors you will be trained, receive a certificate, and be sent out in the community for active change.

The H.O.T. Community Domestic Violence Ambassador program and the course is the result of a partnership between H.O.T. Hear Our Tears, The Pokagon Fund, C2 Your Health Women's Initiative Inc. The goal of this community ambassador program is to amplify the H.O.T. Hear Our Tears domestic violence voice in the community to raise awareness, educate the community together, increase understanding and disseminate available local community resources. This course is also designed to support and provide resources to women entrepreneurs who are looking to transition out of domestic violence enviornments through entrepreneurship.

About Traci Winston Williams – Domestic Violence Advocate

This course is the outgrowth of Traci Winston Williams, Founder and President of H.O.T. Hear Our Tears grassroots movement to mobilize women in the community to help other women understand domestic abuse, how to help, and keep families safe. This can only happen through awareness, education, share what we know that can help and leadership.

Traci Winston William is a domestic violence survivor & victor, with over 5 years of domestic violence training.

 Traci decided to start a nonprofit organization after her sister died from a violent boyfriend, then husband relationship. Traci is certified as a nurse assistant spending 23 years caring for others in the community Traci is the CEO, founder of H.O.T Hear Our Tears a (501c 3) since 2012. Traci is a community activist of many community organized events throughout the South. Bend area. With many certifications including domestic violence counseling, Bridges out of Poverty trained Facilitator, Neighborhood Leadership Academy training , Family Justice Center-S.O.S Advocate , Focus Ministries Faith Base D.V training , Violence Prevention & Awareness, also trained in Mental Health First Aide.
